Intentional personality change: studies and perspectives on the application of interventions in non-clinical population
Keywords:

An innovative research line in the field of personality psychology focuses on the possibility of identifying intervention models aimed at changing personality traits in non-clinical populations. In fact, various research has shown that personality traits are more dynamic and malleable than previously thought and that they change over the course of life, both as a secondary effect of interventions for the treatment of clinical disorders and in the absence of interventions. In line with this perspective, recently new intervention models, some of which have used digital applications, have been proposed to support individuals in their desire to change certain aspects of their personality. Although the studies conducted seem to indicate that these interventions have good efficacy and interesting prospects for use, the available literature is still too scant. This work reports some of the main empirical evidence that has emerged in the literature, describing the main results and limitations, with the aim of introducing this interesting and innovative approach that will most likely receive increasing attention in the near future.
