Differences in emotions perceptions between oncology patients starting intravenous systemic treatment and nephropathic patients with an ongoing hemodialytic treatment.

Treatments for oncology and nephropathic patients are among the cures for organic diseases that can be considered life-saving. In the collective imagination, as in clinical reality, kidney disease is among the conditions for which hemodialytic treatment is most suited to deal with chronicity. However, although in clinical practice systemic treatments in oncology are also used for chronicity management, it seems that for common sense the oncological event always recalls an acute dimension.
Significative clinical differences exist between the oncological conditions and the nephrological condition. Nevertheless, they are both events that affect the lived experience of the patient and consequently disrupt and influence their whole emotional life. The aim of this study is to detect if there are differences in the perceptions of the emotions between oncological patients who begin an intravenous systemic treatment, who are set in the situation of facing a real or imaginary acute situation, and nephrological patients in hemodialytic treatment, who are then facing a real and imaginary chronic condition.
